Why didn't I think of that!?

Chrontendo is a blog started by a user named Dr. Sparkle and it's an on going series of videos about NES and Famicom games. He's playing each game in chronological order, and he does 15 games an episode. Very good stuff, and he's even started an adjacent Sega Master System series.

I've already watched all 20 episodes in about a week. I can't wait to see more from this blog.

Latest Light Bulb News

The great part about blogs is that you get to report stuff. And by report, I mean post links or embed videos to other people's work.

This Week In Entertainment (3/29/09)

Photobucket

Here's another cartoon from my childhood. It's the REALLY REAL Ghostbusters, a cartoon I watched long before I saw the actually movies. Theme song is still cool.

Also out on DVD this week is some show about Urban Legends.

Speaking of Urban Legends, apparently our 16th president is. Who knew?

Out in theaters this week is another 50s sci fi movie parody. These things are hit or miss, depending on whether the movie makers care for the source material or loathe it.

On the Wii this week is Don King's Boxing, doomed to be forgotten after the Punch-Out remake is released and compared endlessly to that realistic looking Xbox 360 boxing game.

On the Nintendo DS is Gardening Mama. I can't imagine people spending 30 bucks for a game so you can be told that you water flowers better than the title character.

I missed my opportunity to see the latest Bond movie in theaters, so my Pick of the Week is Quantum of Solace. I hope it's good. Casino Royale certainly was.

I don't watch this series but I'm a sucker for pre-1983 crash video game nostalgia.

I can still remember watch Star Wars for the first time, but I never even heard of this series. That's how far this series has fallen in my eyes, at least.

There was a sequel to the first Happily N'Ever After? How many 3d animated CGI whatever movies are there?

"A revealing documentary about a subject that will be explored by our generation for years to come." Dude, when did we become so adolescent?

In theaters is Monsters vs Aliens. Usually I ignore hipper-than-thou Dreamworks for Pixar stuff but this movie actually looks good.

Finally on the Wii and DS, just what the world needs: More Final Fantasy games!

Youtube users...

don't like it when you give your opinion about music videos.

I don't know how it happened, but I can't say anything not nice unless cutie4heaven says so.

Some people take their muffin' bluffin' songs too seriously.

I am the Snorlax, coo coo ca choo

Of all those soulless little abominations known as the Pokemon, my fave is the Snorlax. Big fat dude sleeping all the time, only waking up to eat. That's the life.

Then I realized.....

I AM THE SNORLAX!

Consider the evidence:

1). Snorlax are big fat dudes who sleep all the time, and only wake up to eat.

I'm a big fat dude who sleeps heavilly and is often motivated out of the sleep state by my mother saying dinner's ready.

2). Snorlax is furry

While I'm not furry (Or a Furry for that matter), I am damn hairy. I sprout hair like a sumbitch. Also note the big claws, more evidence as in I never cut my nails until they start to piss me off and scratch me.

3). Snorlax often has little kids bouncing on his belly in his slumber.

While that part isn't true about me (Thank goodness, I'd have the feds on my ass) I too get bothered when I'm trying to sleep by annoying children, often being stirred from my slumber.

If I ain't a Snorlax, I clearly am descendant from one (Yes, Pokemon lived before man and we evolved from them. Suck on it creationists!). It truly is fascinating to learn about one's roots like this.

PS: Tork is clearly a Bellossom.

This Week In Entertainment (3/16/09)

My pick of the Week asks one of the ultimate guy questions: Curly or Shemp. This Three Stooges set contains the last of the Curly shorts before a stroke ended his career and the first several Shemp shorts. I personally would have used the scene from Hold That Lion! where Curly makes a cameo for the cover art, but I figured they wanted to use Curly as the selling poin. (Let's hope for a volume 6. That would feature Stooge shorts not released on video before!)

Out in theaters this week is Knowing. It's a film about a guy who discovers that numbers can predict future events. Or, most likely, numbers can predict past events if you look at them a certain way and ignore consistency. Did we really need this movie so soon after The Number 23? Has Hollywood been invaded by Art Bell fans? I wonder if there's something deliberate about encouraging conspiracy theory thinking, except I guess that would make me a conspiracy theorist. Damn. You win, invisible forces! You win.

Out on DVD today is Twilight. Can you believe there's a seven part Making Of series included on one of these sets? About a movie about twinkling "vampires"?!?!?!!?

This Pup Named Scooby Doo set contains the second through fourth seasons. I remember that I loved this show when it was first out, but then I hit the age where I started to get embarrassed by everything, so I probably stopped watching it.

Now you can murder and sell drugs on the go with Grand Theft Auto for the DS! Can the DS have a cool sound track, though?

Robot Master Saturday #19

Welcome back to an often delayed series about my crummy drawings from circa 1990. Today's robot is called Top Man. He's a top. He spins.

Photobucket

He even has those built in roller skates, like he was Batman and Robin. Let's see what I drew.

Looks like I drew a blender instead of a top.

You can see that I drew that part of the background and then was too lazy to draw it again and again. It's a good thing because it would have obscured Top Man, but I still wish I could have copied and pasted it.

Nice face.

See the bottom where I wrote his power, the top spin, and than I drew two arrows circling. Why did I feel the need to draw an arrow poining to those two circles?

What's old is new again.

I went to a Gamestop or whatever and I played the PS3 version of Street Fighter IV. I picked Cammy.

Photobucket

I just want to say that I feel like nothing in the series has changed since Super Street Fighter 2. Or maybe it's Street Fighter Alpha 3. I used the same style I used 10-15 years ago and it worked. I only lost to the third guy because he was new and I wasn't used to his constantly flipping around. Other than that, still same game with nice polygon graphics.

And you know what? This game will probably be far more popular than the much different Street Fighter 3. I bet this game doesn't have downloadable content, either, so you'd have to buy another game to get a couple more characters.

By the way, I didn't get that picture from a deviant art thing. That's actually the first thing that you see when you pick her. Capcom, can't you be a little more subtle?

Jack Thompson

Since I love video games, I think it's about time I share my feelings about one of the more controversial men in the last few years.

Who Flippin' Cares?

I'm so sick of reading lame top ten articles about how much he sucks. Are video game websites so desperate for revenue that they have to bring him up every once in a while to drive their mostly teenage readers into a frenzy?

This Week In Entertainment (3/9/09)

What's black and white and red all over? Madworld, my Pick of the Week. Here's a bloody game for people who whine about Wii games being lousy. I hope the game isn't as headache inducing as the video of it that I watched on the Nintendo channel.

Also out this week is the 12th season of South Park. I haven't followed the show recently so I've only seen two episodes from last year. All I can remember is the kids were getting high off sniffing cats or something.

Lucas decided to follow up the Star Wars series with Howard the Duck. Every time I see a still from that movie I know that it just can't suck. "Oh look, a bad Donald Duck costume." And I don't make millions.

I bet the back of the box for Get Smart: Season 2 says "Get Smarter!"

Back to the Wii. We have two GameCube "Wiimakes." Get it!? One is Mario Power Tennis and the other is the first Pikmin. They both have revamped Wii controls. They also will probably be blamed if Madworld underperforms. Nintendo, I loved the GC but most didn't so I'm wondering if this is a good idea.

Lastly we have a Wii version of Trivial Pursuit. You know, the board game with the insane questions that you'd never get? Eventually you abandon the board and start reading the questions to each other in the hopes that someone gets a question right. That game.

Ok, I lied.

I don't make a dime off this blog. I don't want to make money because it would just draw attention to me. And criticism. I can't take criticism! I want to make a blog for me, not you whiny jerks!

I'm also lazy. Very very lazy.

The End

Well, now that February is done, it's time to take my money and go. It's been fun writing this blog. See you somewhere out there!

This Week In Entertainment (3/3/09)

My pick of the week is some nerd thing. I hope it sucks like I hoped Transformers would suck so I could laugh at the geeks.

Coming out this week is a DVD of the comic that this movie is based on. Is there really a naked blue thing?

Out on the Wii we have the latest baseball game. Just in time for the Nats new season! I hope Bowden leads the team to a better season! Oh, wait...

Gee willikers. Another Sonic game. Huh. Gee willikers.

Speaking of gee wilikers, it's another collection of mini-games for the Wii. Why couldn't they make a game that makes you feel like you're wondering around a real theme park? I'd pay a TON for one about King's Dominion.

Out on DVD this week is Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Let's just assumed I made either a "rolling in his grave" or a "downfall of civilization" joke and move on.

This set takes old Justice League episodes that retold the story of suddenly flying Wonder Woman. How come nobody can make a female superhero movie work? This one runs around in her panties, so you'd think they would at least try.

Finally, we end with Ace Ventura Jr. No, really. I never heard of it either, and I once put up with an episode of the tv show.
