Music Video #82 (Day 22 of 2009)

Yesterday's video was Crystal by the New Order.

New Order plays on a stage in front of a big TV. Most of the time the TV has dots on it and it's the only thing lighting the band at present. Lead singer, who needs a haircut dammit, tells us that the band is like crystal. That means that they break easily. Losers! The dot graphics show foreign looking stock exchange in the background. Singer is a poor man, if you leave him. Poor dope. He says that he use to be loved, but is now ignored. That makes things sad. But hey, the TV is kinda cool. Maybe you can get the dots to say "[What's her face] sucks and I totally hate her!"

The TV has spots floating over the dots. It looks like blood when you see red cells floating through plasma. Singer gets to the chorus where he tells his girl that he doesn't know what to say, but it doesn't matter because she doesn't care. He's angry at her and wants her to tell him what's wrong. HAW! As if women ever tell you. They totally expect you to read their minds. (Why can't they be as open as us men?) He confesses to betraying his girlfriend, but I can't tell how. Probably just emotionally. This song comes off as pretty angsty. Anyway, that doesn't matter. Here he comes to save the day with his hot self! He's going to make everything all right with his loving. She'll feel better, he claims, and she shocks him to the core. You know, when he's not being pissed and mopey at her.

During a breakdown the television gets a mix of vertical lines and lips. You know, the hot lipstick kind of lips. Am I the only one who doesn't get why those are a popular symbol for sex? It seems like one of those things that was provocative at some poin but old fashion now. Singer tells us once again that New Order is like Crystal. He tells his gal that she can feed his hunger and rationalizes that everybody needs somebody sometime. By the way, the blonde has a nice voice. Singer repeats a mantra of keeping it coming. Jeez, she's doing it already!

The chorus starts again as we see many As behind the band. It's Font Day! Remember, there's no nerdy thing insignificant to celebrate during the Internet generation.

The chorus repeats, and suddenly another band rushes up and starts a fight. Are they jocks driven by their natural urge to give wedgies to whiney emos? No, but my idea is better. The television shows a hockey game or Cops or something. Oh geez, now it's a whole crowd of people attacking. Naturally they leave singer alone and the music isn't effected at all. They didn't even go after the blonde. Weird.

Also, the drummer's drums are called The Killers. Good thing these videos come with title and band name, or that's who I would be calling the New Order all through this post.

This is a good song, even if it comes off as whiny teen stuff. And singer needs to cut that damn hair. It bothers me. The video is the highlight. This band is no U2 but the television gives this thing some fun visuals.

The awesome thing about this video is blonde's black dress.

Fun Fact: The band you see playing throughout the video is not New Order! New Order have been around for quite some time and look nothing like the infants who get most of the face time in this video.

Fun Fact #2: There is a band called the Killers! They also do not appear in this video at any time.

I like the premise of this video. It's been hijacked by a bunch of New Order impersonators (or possibly The Killers impersonators)and the whole sham is broken up at the end by... well... a whole bunch of people who are also not New Order.

Lips are considered sexy because of the sexy uses to which they can be put. No, not just that, you pervert. Ever heard of kissing? Lips are also critical for talking and singing, both of which can be sexy.

Awesome thing:
Fake lead singer. That kid can move! He even tries to continue dancing and singing, even as a riot breaks out behind him. In fact, everybody in the fake band continues attempting to play, even when they're being dragged away from their instruments by an angry mob. That's sticktoitiveness that I can get behind!

Your new video involves BOTH appearances by the artist responsible for the song, AND sexy lips!
